Learn by Example: Building FlickIt
cdevroe has published an article documenting how he went about creating the FlickIt widget. He even provides an Automator action for automating the process of packaging a widget for distribution.
Learn by Example: Hacking "This Day in History"
Stephen Rider has published an article documenting how he went about adding improvements to the "This Day in History" widget.
Change the Dashboard shelf's background image
Mac OS X Hints has published a brief tutorial that describes how to change the background image of the Dashboard "shelf" -- the widget list that becomes visible when you press the "+" sign in the bottom left corner while Dashboard is active. Have fun!
Debugging Dashboard Widgets
Over on the ADC, Apple has posted a tutorial on debugging Dashboard widgets. Check it out. It's nice to see Apple providing so much vendor-supported documentation for Dashboard.
